Whowolf

Werewolf at the table. Everyone on their own phone.

The app is the narrator: no game master, no paper slips, no telltale noises.

In development Whowolf is currently a concept in development. There is nothing to play yet.

No game master needed.

Werewolf lives on secrets. Whowolf puts them where they belong: on each player’s own phone. Everyone sits at the table, everyone plays.

Everyone has a phone. Scan the QR code, type your name, done. Only you see your role.

The app narrates. It leads you through night and day, counts the votes and never forgets a rule.

Nobody gives it away. At night everyone taps something. From the outside you can’t tell who the werewolf is.

The programme.

This is how an evening with Whowolf is meant to go.

  1. Prologue: Open a room

One phone opens the room, everyone else scans the code. No account, no internet.

  2. Act one: Take your seats

The app shows the table circle from your point of view, so the seating is right at once.

  3. Act two: The night

The wolves pick a victim, the seer looks into a soul, the village counts sheep.

  4. Act three: The morning

Every phone yawns. Then the app announces who was caught.

  5. Finale: The day

Phones down, read faces, accuse, lie. The vote is secret.

Counting sheep.

What do villagers do at night while the wolves are hunting? They count sheep. That way everyone taps, and nobody stands out. Give it a try.

Tap the white sheep. Better let the black ones jump.

The cast.

Every role a cardboard puppet, every puppet with its own character. We start small, the programme grows.

To begin with

  • Werewolf

    Werewolves

Picks a victim with the pack at night. By day, plays the harmless neighbour.

  • Seer

    Village

Looks into one player’s role every night. Whom will she tell?

  • Villager

    Village

No gift but a knack for people. And a loud voice at the vote.

  • Villager

    Village

Hears the wolf trail if her phone is loud enough, and then has to convince the others.

On the programme

  • Witch

    Village

One healing potion, one poison, and a whole game to choose the right moment.

  • Hunter

    Village

Whoever takes him down doesn’t go alone. His last shot always hits.

  • Cupid

    Village

Pairs two players on the first night. If one dies, so does the other.

  • Protector

    Village

Guards one player each night, just never the same one twice in a row.

Only in Whowolf

  • Trail layer

    Werewolves

Once per game, plants a false wolf trail on a phone of their choice.

  • Listener

    Village

Hears trails from further away. Only nobody else knows that.

  • Silent Paw

    Werewolves

Sneaks so quietly that she never leaves a trail.

The wolf trail.

At night the phones on the table whisper: wind, footsteps, an owl. And sometimes a quiet growl.

If a wolf sound comes from the phone of X, a werewolf sits close by: at most one seat away, up to three in big groups.
A suspicion, never proof
Whoever hears it on their own phone learns a lot. To everyone else, they are now the suspect.
Loud or quiet?
Villagers want to hear everything, werewolves would rather mute. But at dawn every phone yawns.
Quiet and sparse
A few sounds per night, lots of silence in between. Atmosphere, not noise.
The wolf trail in detail (German)
X ? ? A wolf sound plays on the phone of X → a werewolf sits on X or next to X (8 players)
