Werewolf for Halloween night

No game fits Halloween better than werewolf: the village sleeps, it is dark outside, and somewhere at the table sits a wolf. Here is how to make it your evening.

Why werewolf fits Halloween

Werewolf is a spooky game for a group sitting together: it needs no preparation, everyone can join straight away, and it gets louder and funnier the more guests come. Exactly what a Halloween evening needs.

With Whowolf the app narrates the night. No guest has to read aloud or be the game master; everyone sits in the circle.

The mood

  • Dim the lights: a dark room, a few fairy lights or lanterns. At night the phones only light up as much as needed anyway.
  • Turn up the sound: in the Whowolf level a quiet soundscape plays at night, and the village yawns in the morning. A Bluetooth speaker makes the narrator even bigger.
  • Classic night: eyes closed, the narrator calls the roles one by one. By candlelight it is spookiest.
  • The full stage: with cupid and the mayor it turns into a drama, perfect for a long evening.

Costumes and roles

Guests in costume often already look like a role: witches, hunters and of course werewolves. The app still deals the roles in secret and at random, so the costume gives nothing away. That is exactly the fun when the witch in costume turns out to be a werewolf.

Getting started

  1. One person installs Whowolf and opens a room. The download is there for Android, Mac, Windows and Linux.
  2. Everyone else scans the QR code, with the app or simply in the browser, on the iPhone too.
  3. Pick a level, deal the roles, lights out.

How the night goes is in the werewolf rules; how to plan a whole evening is in Plan a game night.
