Role

Seer: the werewolf role explained

Every night she looks into one player and learns who they really are. The seer is the werewolves’ most dangerous opponent, and their favourite victim.

Her ability

The seer belongs to the village. Each night she picks one player and learns their role. If the settings say so, she only learns their side, that is, whether they are a werewolf or belong to the village. What she saw stays on her phone, and she can look it up again at any time.

In the classic night the narrator calls her after the werewolves.

How to play her

  • Don’t show yourself too early: if she reveals herself on the first day, the wolves take her the next night.
  • Don’t stay silent too long: knowledge nobody hears does the village no good.
  • Hint rather than tell: defending or attacking someone pointedly steers the village without outing yourself.
  • Beware of false seers: a werewolf can claim to be the seer too.

Who she plays against

The werewolves know there may be a seer and look for her. If the witch saves her at night, the village is lucky. If she dies, the village should think hard about what she said before.
